Driving home from work this week one of my all time favorite songs came on the radio, “Bitch” by Meredith Brooks. It took me back to 1997, and although I was only 11, it didn’t stop me rocking out to the “sing your lungs out” chick anthem. In fact, I still do from time to time. After watching the video for the first time in ages, I decided it was time to come up with a more current look while still keeping the “in your face, take me as I am” attitude.
After an hour of searching the internet for the look I was going for, I finally came across Christian Siriano‘s web site. You might remember him as the season 4 winner of Project Runway. I loved him on the show and I love his designs! I found this dress, it’s tweed mixed with metallic and leather trim. Next, was to find shoes to complete the look. I came across these stunning Giuseppe Zanotti, black suede crystal sandals. Perfetto!
It’s been a little while since I’ve put together an outfit of the week. Elaine Bradley, the drummer from Neon Trees, inspired this outfit. She wears some great jackets in both the official and viral videos for “Animal.” I also love the girl power factor of being a female drummer in a rock band.
The jacket is from Mod Cloth, if you can’t tell I am absolutely obsessed with Mod Cloth. They have a lot of great Indie and vintage inspired pieces you can’t find other places. This particular jacket struck my eye because of the cowl neck detail and motorcycle zipper. It’s a versatile jacket that lends itself as a business outfit or, as an after hours party ensemble. Either way, it makes a great fashion statement. The cami is from Urban Outfitters and the pants are New York and Company.

I love Consignment shopping. I don’t have a lot of money to spend on new wardrobe pieces, so I’ve had to find other ways to keep my closet current. Here are my most recent Consignment shop finds. While I’m still relatively new to the world of consigning, my top two favorite consignment shops thus far are: Hello Gorgeous and ReVAMP. I encourage you to check out local consignment shops near you.
When Thom asked me to critique his favorite comic book heroes’ jackets, I took it one step further and decided to have some fun. There was one character who I felt needed a makeover. I’d like to see Gambit wear something different when he’s not fighting bad guys. Here is an outfit I put together for him:
I would like to see Gambit in a boot cut jean paired with a fitted gray shirt. I’d layer it one of fall’s hottest items, a leather military jacket. I feel it fits his personality while elevating his style.
